Available on Android and iOS, Instagram is a photo and video sharing app, which enables users to upload and like photos, use hashtags and follow users according to their interests, hobbies and preferences. Initially released on October 6, 2010, the app was acquired by Facebook on April 12, 2012.
The selfie culture is widely accepted on Instagram, with #me, #self and #selfie all placing high in the top 50 most used hashtags. Currently, the most-liked picture on Instagram is a selfie of Kendall Jenner, posted on her Instagram on the late May 2015. This image has acquired over 3.1 million likes, a number still growing today. This selfie overtook the likes of a photo posted by Kim Kardashian last May of her and Kanye West's wedding day which generated over 2 million likes and 60,000 comments. |
